Tote Studio

Pick a capacity, a grade, a valve, a lid and a pallet. The drawing redraws, the spec sheet fills in, and the whole configuration travels with your request — written out properly, so nobody at our end has to guess what you meant.

Your five selections post with the form. Written quote, with photographs of the actual units, inside one business day.

Five choices. The spec sheet writes itself.

These five selections travel with the request form below — the yard receives your exact spec, not a paraphrase. Nothing here needs JavaScript: the drawing and the spec sheet are driven by the radio buttons themselves.

Why this exists

Container enquiries normally arrive as a sentence — “need some 275s, food grade, asap” — which takes two or three emails to turn into a quotable spec. Tote Studio collapses that into one submission by making you answer the five questions we were going to ask anyway: capacity, condition, valve and seat, closure, and base.

The five questions, and why each one matters

  1. Capacity. Not about volume — about footprint and weight. All composite formats to 350 gallons share a 48 × 40 inch footprint, so the decision is really about height and filled weight against your handling ratings. 275 versus 330, in detail.
  2. Condition and grade. Decided by your liquid and your audit exposure, not by preference. Grade B is right for most industrial chemistry; rebottled is right whenever anyone downstream will ask about provenance.
  3. Valve and seat. The seat elastomer is the single most commonly mis-specified component in bulk liquid handling. EPDM for water-based chemistry, Viton for aromatics and fats. Compatibility table.
  4. Closure. Vented for anything pumped or off-gassing; solid for sealed transport. Getting this wrong collapses a bottle inward.
  5. Base. Steel if it lives outdoors or gets moved often; composite for hygiene and weight; timber indoors only. Pallet types compared.

What the Loop Score means

A composite IBC has roughly seven honest service lives in it before the bottle is genuinely finished — and the cage will outlast three or four bottles on top of that. The Loop Score in the spec sheet is our estimate of how many of those lives remain in the configuration you have built. It is the number we actually use internally when deciding whether a container is worth washing, and publishing it felt more useful than hiding it.

Questions

Tote Studio FAQ

Does Tote Studio work without JavaScript?

Yes, entirely. The configurator is built from radio buttons; the live drawing and the spec sheet are driven by CSS. Because the controls sit inside the request form, your selections post to our yard as part of the normal form submission — no scripts involved at any point.

What happens after I send a configured spec?

It arrives at the sales desk with your five selections written out explicitly rather than paraphrased into a message. You get back a written quote with photographs of the actual units we would ship, a delivered freight price, and — where relevant — a note telling you that a cheaper configuration would do the same job.

Can I configure something that is not in the options?

Use the message box. Non-standard capacities, tri-clamp fittings, heater jackets, insulated covers, custom stencilling, secondary containment and upcycled builds are all quotable; the five selections here cover about 90% of what people actually order.

What is the Loop Score?

Our own estimate of how many further service lives a container has in it, based on grade and construction. A composite bottle has roughly seven honest service lives in total; a Grade C unit has used most of them, a rebottled unit has used almost none, and stainless is measured in decades rather than cycles. It is a planning figure, not a warranty.
